NEW HAVEN, Conn. - For the second time this season, the University of Pennsylvania men's squash team defeated No. 5 Yale in New Haven - this time to begin the CSA Team Championships. The Quakers defeated the Bulldogs, 8-1, on Friday, setting up a meeting with No. 1 Harvard on Saturday at 3 p.m.
How it Happened
Earlier this year during the Ivy League season, Penn defeated Yale on the road for the first time since the 2006-07 season. The Quakers accomplished that feat for a second time after defeating the Bulldogs, 8-1, at the Brady Squash Center in New Haven on Friday to open the CSA Team Championships.
Karim Hussein got the Red and Blue on the board, 1-0, with an 11-7, 11-4, 11-4 win at number six.
David Yacobucci put the Quakers up, 2-0, win a 3-1 win of his own. Playing a three-court system, Penn took a commanding, 3-0, win after the first shift after
Jonathan Zeitels won, 11-6, in the fifth to win, 3-2.
In the second shift, it the freshmen who closed out the match for the Quakers. At number five,
Michael Mehl came back from losing the fourth game, 11-4, to win the fifth, 11-7, and put the Red and Blue up 4-0.
Aly Abou Eleinen then earned his 15th win of the season, winning 3-0 to clinch the match for Penn.
