HOW IT HAPPENED
In frigid conditions on Rhodes Field both teams took some time to warm up with some crisp passes in the midfield. While Princeton held the advantage in shots, the Quakers did well to snuff out any real threats from the Tigers.
The teams entered the break with neither side having a real chance at scoring, with Penn's only shot a high flare from
Dami Omitaomu.
Penn's best shot of the night came in the 68th minute, after more even play from both sides.
Matt Leigh fed
Joey Bhangdia at the top of the box, who curled a ball off the far post, just kissing off the goal line. Leigh had a shot at the rebound, but couldn't get past the keeper.
The Quakers registered two more shots on goal in the final 10 minutes while
Dane Jacomen came up big in between the pipes, leaping to save a header from Princeton in the 88th.
Play tilted towards the Red and Blue in extra minutes, as Penn averted a Princeton win early on a shot from Benjamin Martin and would go on to maintain a bulk of the possession.
Jake Kohlbrenner nearly gave the Quakers three points, forcing an impressive save from the Tigers on a looping ball under the crossbar in the 98th minute.
WHAT'S NEXT?
The Quakers wrap the season next Saturday, Nov. 16 at Harvard.
