PHILADELPHIA – The Ivy League has announced its weekly awards in volleyball, and University of Pennsylvania freshman
Autumn Leak has been recognized as this week's Rookie of the Week. Leak is the first Quakers freshman to win the award since
Parker Jones in 2017.
Leak kicked off a terrific weekend by notching 11 kills, four total blocks and two digs in a 3-1 victory over Harvard on Friday night at The Palestra. Her 13 total points and .360 hitting percentage led all Penn players in the match.
Leak then topped that performance with a dominant, 15-kill performance in Penn's 3-1 win over Dartmouth on Saturday. Leak recorded a .364 hitting percentage, three more digs and three more total blocks, marking her highest block total (7) in a weekend series. Her 15 kills tied her season/career high for a game, and her 16.5 points also marked a high this season.
Leak reached the 200-kill threshold for the season with her final kill in the fourth set of Saturday's win. Leak became the first Quaker freshman to reach that mark since Jones accomplished the same feat in 2017.
Teammate
Raven Sulaimon was also named to the Ivy League honor roll. The honor is the first of the season for Sulaimon.
Leak and the Quakers will finish up their season with two road games this weekend, as they travel to face Yale at 7 p.m. on Friday and Brown at 5 p.m. on Saturday.
