Wrestling Begins Ivy Dual Meet Season Saturday In The Palestra

PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania wrestling program opens Ivy League dual meets on Saturday, hosting Brown (1 p.m.) and Harvard (6 p.m.) inside The Palestra. It's a "Red Out" on Saturday, so all fans are encouraged to rock their red Penn Wrestling gear and cheer on the Quakers!

This Weekend's Ticketing Policy
Fans who purchase a ticket to the dual meet against Brown will also gain admittance to the dual meet against Harvard. In between the two collegiate dual meets, a high school match will be contested in The Palestra. Any fan wishing to remain and watch the high school meet must purchase a separate ticket for that meet.

Notes To Know…
  • The Quakers are 44-31-2 all-time against Harvard in the 77 previous meetings. The Red and Blue are 27-1 against the Crimson dating back to the 1991 season.
  • Roger Reina is 17-4 all-time in dual meets against Harvard.
  • Under Roger Reina, Penn has won eight Ivy League championships.
  • Penn has won 14 in a row in Philadelphia against Harvard. On home mats, the Quakers are outscoring the Crimson, 27.6 to 11.2 during their 14-match winning streak.
  • There are no expected rematches from last year's dual in Cambridge. Tristin DeVincenzo and Evan DeLuise are listed in Penn's probables this year and competed last year, but other than that the Red and Blue are likely to have all new starters.
  • Last year's dual came down to the final bout, with Penn's Tyler Hall scoring a 5-2 decision at heavyweight to complete a Penn comeback for a 20-18 win. The Quakers trailed, 15-3, after four matches but won five of the last six to storm back.
  • This season, there have been some meetings between Quakers and Crimson wrestlers, mostly at the Keystone Classic. Grant Aronoff picked up a 9-2 decision over Ryan Friedman at Keystone and A.J. Vindici defeated Friedman, 8-1. At 125, Carmen Ferrante defeated Nolan Hellickson, 7-3, while Evan DeLuise was defeated by Josh Kim, 3-2, at 165. At Midlands, Anthony Artalona edged Brock Wilson, 4-3, at 149.
  • Penn is 39-22 all-time against Brown over the 61 previous meetings. Since 1994, Penn is 23-3 against the Bears. Over the past six seasons, though, the two teams have split their dual meets, 3-3, with Brown winning the last two.
  • Last year in Providence, Brown won four of the first six matches to jump out to an 18-10 lead en route to a 25-17 win.
  • While Penn is likely to have only two wrestlers from last year's dual weighed in this year, Brown could potentially return seven.
  • In terms of potential rematches, Blair Orr and Reese Fry are both listed among the probables for their teams at 125. At the Patriot Open in December, Brown's Fry picked up a 5-3 decision win.
