PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The University of Pennsylvania women's squash team bounced back from Saturday's loss to Yale with a, 5-4, win against Brown on Sunday.
Julia Buchholz clinched the match at number four to with a 3-0 sweep to give the Red and Blue the win.
How it Happened
Jessica Davis and
Nicole Windreich put the Quakers on the board in the first shift. Davis earned her seventh sweep of the season at number two while Windreich won the final three games after losing the first, 11-9. With
Haley Scott and
Jamila Tamer falling in four games, the Red and Blue found themselves all tied up heading into the second shift of matches.
Lindsay Stanley bounced back after her first loss of the season on Saturday. The junior came back with a clean sweep winning 11-6, 11-3, 11-3. After
Margaret Frantz lost at number nine,
Reeham Salah put the Quakers up 4-3 with a sweep at number one. The defending national champion lost just a total of five points which including a shutout in the third set, winning, 11-2, 11-3, 11-0.
Buchholz clinched the match for the Quakers at number four with a sweep of her own. The sophomore won 11-4, 11-5, 11-7 to put the Quakers up 5-3.
Clare Kearns lost a hard-fought match at seven. Kearns won the opening two games 11-9, 11-6, but fell in the next three which included falling short 11-6 in the decider.
What's Next
The Quakers return to Philadelphia in two weeks when they host No. 2 Trinity and No. 23 Colby.
