HOW IT HAPPENED
Entering Friday, Penn had scored six goals in the first two games of the season, but was shutout for the first time a week ago at home by No. 13 North Carolina State. The Quakers looked eager to put that behind them, blitzing Delaware for four shots and three corners within the first five minutes of the contest. That pressure led to an early breakthrough when Stephens bent her corner kick directly into the net, beating the Blue Hen keeper.
The Red and Blue didn't stop there, continuing to hammer Delaware. The Blue Hens didn't register their first shot until 15 minutes had already passed and Qu wasn't forced to make a save until the half-hour mark had come and gone.
In the 27th minute, Penn doubled its advantage. Trzaska flicked a ball to Bruder, who finished off her first career goal in just the second game she's played. The assist was Trzaska's third already, a team-high.
The Quakers entered the break clenching to that two-goal lead while also holding an 11-2 shot advantage. In the second half, both teams mustered only four shots apiece to give Penn its third win in the opening four games.
