Late Rally Pushes Baseball Past Harvard, 6-5

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Even with yesterday's dismal results from the doubleheader still lingering, Penn (8-17-1, 3-5-1 Ivy) overcame a late one-run deficit to knock off Harvard (12-14, 3-3 Ivy) in the series finale, topping the Crimson by a 6-5 mark. The game boiled down to a clutch eighth-inning hit from 3B Matt McGeagh, as the junior lifted a two-out single to left field to secure the lead, driving in both freshman Eduardo Malinowski and junior Matt Tola.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The game started similar to both of Saturday's losses, as Harvard jumped out to an early lead behind a two-run homer in the second. The Quakers responded later in the fourth, as freshman Christian Walton plated two before Malinowski and junior Sean Phelan each notched an RBI single of their own, granting Penn a two-run advantage. Crimson batters saved no time in reclaiming the lead, plating three in the bottom of the frame for a one-score edge.

Penn's massive eighth began with Tola singling to right field before Malinowski pushed him to third on a shot up the middle. McGeagh cleaned up two at-bats later, sending both home with a driven ball into the left field gap.

Meanwhile, sophomore Christian Scafidi put together another decent start for the Quakers, striking out eight through four innings of work. Kendrick dominated through the seventh frame as he severely handicapped the Crimson attack, holding them to just one hit with four strikeouts to earn his first win of the year. Sophomores Dylan Mulvihill and Sadowtiz, along with freshman Brendan Bean, combined on the final two frames, surrendering just one hit as Harvard failed to retake the lead.
