CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The University of Pennsylvania softball team (12-16, 7-6 Ivy) fell in game one against Harvard on Friday afternoon, 9-1. The Quakers will look to rebound Saturday as they take on the Crimson for games two and three in a double-header.

* The Quakers loss to Harvard breaks their five game win streak.
* The nine runs given up are the most Penn has given up since March 17 against Columbia.
* Penn left eight runners on base compared to Harvard's seven.

Sam Pederson failed to earn a hit for the first time in 15 games. The junior was on a 14-game hitting streak. She reached base on error.

How it Happened
The Quakers headed into Friday with a big matchup against Harvard. The Quakers trailed the Crimson by just one game in the Ivy League standings.
Penn did not get the start the wanted going down early in the first inning. Harvard brought in two runs and then added two more with a home run. The home run is the ninth that
Mason Spichiger has given up this season.
The Red and Blue looked to cut into a five-run deficit in the fourth inning.
Sarah Cwiertnia singled while
Lucy Yang and
Abigail Abramson also got on to load the bases. However, back-to-back ground outs ended the run.
The Quakers once again loaded the bases in the fifth as
Katie Petroski,
Sam Pederson, and
Jessica England all got on base. Joyner brought home one run, but that would be it. Once again, back-to-back ground outs retired the side.
After two-straight scoreless innings,
Ciana Curran allowed three runs in the bottom of the frame as Penn went down 8-1.The Quakers gave up the final run in the sixth with a single up the middle as they fell in game one, 9-1.

The Quakers will wrap up the series against Harvard on Saturday with a double-header scheduled to start at 12:30 p.m.
