New Haven, Conn. - The University of Pennsylvania men's squash team lost their second straight match in the Potter Cup on Saturday as they were downed by Rochester 6-3. The Quakers got wins from
David Yacobucci,
Yash Bhargava, and
James Watson in the loss. Penn will conclude the Potter Cup on Sunday at 11 a.m. as they rematch Princeton.
Penn had another rematch in the Potter Cup on Saturday as they took on Rochester. The last time the two teams met, the Red and Blue won in a 5-4 thriller in which
Andrew Douglas came back from two games down and match points to clinch the victory.
This time around, the Quakers came up just short on the other end as they fell 6-3.
Andrew Douglas fell 0-3 while
Hayes Murphy and
Marwan Mahmoud each fell 3-1 at the No. 2 and No. 3 slots. At five,
Karim Hussein came up just short as he lost the final three games after going up 2-0 early. Hussein fell 11-5 in the fifth.
Penn earned wins at the four, seven, and eight slots as
David Yacobucci,
Yash Bhargava, and
James Watson. After losing the first game 11-4, Yacobucci came back to win the next three games to win 3-1.
At seven,
Yash Bhargava continued his strong freshman season as he won 3-2. Bhargava lost the opening two games in narrow fashion, 10-12, 12-14, but came back to win the next three. The freshman won the third game 11-3 to spark the comeback. He won the fourth and fifth games 11-7, 11-8 to clinch the match.
James Watson earned the final win at number eight as he won 3-0.
