PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania men's lacrosse team faces a big week against two of the top teams in the nation. The first of those challenges takes place on Wednesday evening, when the Quakers make a trip to the Old Line State to face defending NCAA champion University of Maryland.
Wednesday's game will face off at 5 p.m. Fans can watch the game on BTN2Go.com, the Big Ten Network's online channel.
The Series
Penn and Maryland have met 14 times, with the Terrapins winning all of them. The most recent matchup took place in 2016, the Terps earning a 13-8 win at Franklin Field in Philadelphia. Penn played in College Park most recently in 2015, losing an 11-7 decision, and they fell 10-7 in 2010. Overall, Penn is 0-7 in games played at College Park.
About Maryland
The Terps won the NCAA title last year, and are currently ranked third in the USILA national coaches poll with wins over Navy (10-4), Marist (13-7) and High Point (16-14). Connor Kelly leads UM in scoring, with nine goals and eight assists for 17 points. Jared Bernhardt has a team-high 10 goals, while Tim Rotanz has 11 points (6g, 5a). At the other end, Dan Morris has started every game in goal and has a .564 save percentage.
About Penn
*The Quakers opened their 2018 season on Saturday with a 12-9 win over Michigan at Franklin Field. Penn was down early, 3-0, but roared back for the victory.

Kevin McGeary led the Penn attack on Saturday, scoring four goals and adding an assist. Three of his goals were unassisted efforts.

*Keating was a third-team USILA All-America selection last year after earning honorable mention recognition as a sophomore. He is the top-scoring LSM in the country, entering the season with 28 goals and six assists for 34 career points.
*Mathias—who led Penn in goals (28), assists (20) and points (48) last year—was a second-team All-Ivy selection last year after sharing Ivy League Rookie of the Year honors in 2016 with teammate
Reed Junkin, the Quakers' goalie.
*McGeary (23-12—35 in 2017) and Dunn (18-4—22) received honorable mention All-Ivy recognition last year.

*Junkin—who sat out the first quarter on Saturday but came back to record seven saves while allowing just four goals in the final three periods—started every game last year in the cage and finished with a .500 save percentage and a 10.39 goals-against average.
