Camridge, Mass. - The University of Pennsylvania women's squash team began the Howe Cup on Friday afternoon with an Ivy rematch against Princeton from earlier this season at Ringe. Like the first meeting, Penn fell 6-3 to the Tigers, winning the matchups at the top three and losing the bottom six.
With the loss, the Quakers will move on to the consolation bracket where they will rematch against Columbia on Saturday at 11:30 a.m., a team they were defeated by in their final match at Ringe, 5-4 just last weekend.
How it Happened
Like in the first meeting, it was the top three that came out victorious for the Quakers. Reeham won 3-0. After losing the first game against Olivia Fiechter in the first meeting, Salah has now won the last six.
Melissa Alves won 3-1 while
Marie Stephan pulled her match out at number three 11-2 in the fifth.
Unlike in the first meeting when the Quakers were able to extend four of the bottom six past three games, this time it was only
Julia Buchholz who won the first game, 11-8, before falling in the final three.
