Men's Squash Clashes With #5 Rochester and #4 St. Lawrence

PHILADELPHIA - The sixth-ranked University of Pennsylvania men's squash team will head to upstate New York this weekend to take on No. 5 Rochester (Saturday at 12 p.m.) and No. 4 St. Lawrence (Sunday at 12 p.m.). This will be the final time Penn will hit the courts in 2018 as its next matches aren't until after the new year.

Previewing Penn

The Quakers are 4-0 for the fourth time in the last five seasons, but their three sweeps through the first four matches are the most since 2006. Penn has outscored opponents, 35-1, during that stretch which is also the best differential since reaching that same mark back in 1985. The team also reached that mark in 1971.

Leading the way for Penn has been Andrew Douglas. The sophomore is an undefeated 4-0 at the team's number one slot and has yet to lose a game. Douglas burst onto the scene last season in Penn's 5-4 win over Rochester when he defeated the Yellowjackets' Ashley Davies in epic come from behind fashion. After going down 2-0, Douglas battled to tie the match up at 2-2. He then fought off three match points in the fifth to come back and win not only his match, 13-11, but clinch the match for the Red and Blue.

Along with Douglas, captain Jonathan Zeitels has held strong at number nine. Zeitels is also 4-0 and has yet to lose a game.

In the middle of the lineup it's the freshmen trio of Aly Abou Eleinen, Michael Mehl, and James Flynn who have each stood their ground. With 4-0 records they have played a large role in Penn's historic start and will look to keep it going against this weekend's stiff competition.
