How it Happened

The Quakers began Saturday night by honoring the six seniors that gave so much to the program. The group of six helped the team to its best win percentage since 2013 last season while winning 41 games in their four years.

Penn got off to a slow start going down, 8-4, early on. Senior Taylor Cooper sparked a 5-1 run that helped the Quakers tie the set at nine apiece. Much of the first set was Harvard taking lead with the Red and Blue climbing back. Down 23-18 late, Brooke Behrbaum made her presence felt recording two kills and two blocks. That sparked what would be a 7-0 run by the Quakers to take the opening set 25-23.

The Red and Blue went down by as much as seven in the second set finding themselves down 16-9. A 6-0 run that included a block and ace from Grace James tied the set at 19-19 late. Down 22-20, the Quakers looked for another late surge, but this time it was the Crimson that prevailed 25-23, evening the match at 1-1.

After falling 25-14 in the third to go down 2-1, Penn looked to force a fifth. However, after losing the lead at 7-6, it was unable to take it back. At 24-19 the Quakers took two consecutive points to pull within three at 24-21, but the run stopped there with a Harvard kill to end the set, 25-21, and the match, 3-1.
