LANCASTER, Pa. - The University of Pennsylvania women's squash team (1-0) advanced to the final of the Pennsylvania State Classic for the second straight season with its 8-1 victory over Franklin & Marshall Saturday afternoon. The Quakers swept seven of the nine matches as they repeated last year's result against the Diplomats. Penn will play Drexel in the final on Sunday at 12 p.m.

How it Happened

The Quakers began their season in decisive fashion taking down Franklin & Marshall. Penn swept seven of the nine matches en route to an 8-1 victory. 

The 2017-18 Ivy League Player of the Year and defending National Champion, Reeham Salah lost a grand total of six points as she won 11-1, 11-3, 11-2 in a 3-0 sweep. 

Junior Jessica Davis returned to the lineup for the first time since early last season. Davis also won in a sweep, 11-6, 11-5, 11-1. 

While Salah and Davis each swept, Lindsay Stanley may have had the most impressive win of the day. Stanley won two of her three games by shutting out her opponent, 11-0. Stanley won 11-0, 11-5, 11-0. 

Freshman Jamila Tamer began her collegiate squash career on a high note earning a hard fought victory. The first year player edged out the opening game,13-11, but fell in the second, 11-9. Tamer entered the third tied 1-1, but took control the rest of the way. She won the final two sets 11-5, 11-3 in a 3-1 win. 

Nicole Windreich split the first two games as well. Windreich lost the first game 11-9, but bounced back to take the ensuing three, 11-7, 11-4, 11-2. 

Penn's only loss came at number nine on the ladder in which it defaulted.
