Philadelphia - The University of Pennsylvania women's volleyball team (3-3) wrapped up the Valley Forge Sports Invitational on Sunday. Despite going 1-2 on the weekend with close losses to both Navy and La Salle, Penn's own
Kendall Covington was named to the all-tournament team.
The senior was named to the all-tournament team a week ago at the George Mason tournament as well, but this week was the team's first stretch of home games. In the team's 3-0 win in the home opener against Siena, Covington hit double digit kills (12) and through the team's three games over the weekend, the senior averaged a .413 hit percentage which lead the team. She finished the weekend with 33 kills overall and came up with big plays when the team needed them.
A captain on the team, Covington is off to a strong start in the 2017 season. She has hit a total of 62 kills and is averaging an impressive .397 which is among the top in the Ivy League.
The Quakers currently sit at 3-3 in non-conference play and will travel to Moon Township, Pennsylvania to take on Rutgers, Robert Morris, and Middle Tennessee State before their first Ivy League game on September 22 against Princeton.
