Volleyball Announces Class of 2021

PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania’s Kenneth L. Gross Head Coach of Volleyball, Katie Schumacher-Cawley, has announced her recruiting class for the upcoming 2017-18 season. Six women will join the Quakers’ roster this fall as freshmen.

“I am excited to see what this class can do,” said Schumacher-Cawley, who will enter her first season leading the Quakers this fall. “They will have an opportunity to compete and contribute to the team’s success right away.”

KACIE BURTON
6-0 Setter
Olmsted Falls, Ohio / Olmsted Falls
High School: Lettered four times in volleyball, two-year captain … Team won conference titles in 2014 (17-1 record) and 2015 (18-0) … Second-team all-state as a senior, honorable mention all-state as a junior … Southwestern Conference MVP as a senior … National Spanish Honor Society member … Four-time Scholar Athlete Award … Four-time invitee to Academic Honors Banquet … Two-time Spanish Student of the Year (sophomore/junior) … Language Arts and Math Student of the Year as a sophomore.
Personal: Daughter of Andrea and Dane Burton … Both parents swam at Bowling Green, and older brother Aidan swam at Cleveland State … Enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences.

High School: Three-year letter winner in volleyball, captain as a senior … Helped Granite Bay win CIF Sac-Joaquin Section Division 2 championship in 2015 (32-11 record) and the Sierra Foothill League title in 2014 … Team qualified for the California State Championship in 2015 and 2016 … Three-time all-league selection … Optimist All-Star (Sacramento Valley) as a senior … Team’s offensive MVP as a senior … National Honor Society member … California Scholarship Federation (CSF) … National Charity League (Ticktocker President) … Won a blue ribbon for original art at the California State Fair.
