HOW IT HAPPENED
In a game where the Quakers never trailed, the Red and Blue had to overcome a slow start as neither team could get shots to fall off the tip. The Quakers gained momentum and followed through with a 9-0 run off the heels of the Red and Blue backcourt, with Ross, Chambers, Brzozowski and Russell combining for 11 points as the Red and Blue took a 13-5 lead at the end of the first.
Penn pushed the issue in the second, and amassed a 14-point advantage at 24-10 by the media timeout with 4:56 on the clock. The Red and Blue dominated the paint in the frame, notching six points in the lane including four from Stipanovich in just over five minutes of action. Penn finished the quarter hitting 4-for-4 from the field as they led 36-17 at the half.
The Penn advantage continued to grow coming out of the locker rooms and creeped up to 28 points following a Brzozowski trey with 2:42 left to play in the stanza. The Red and Blue defense carried the Quakers through the frame as Penn held Dartmouth scoreless for nearly six minutes in the quarter.
With the contest never in doubt, the Quakers finished the game to put up the largest margin of victory over the Big Green in series history. Penn held Dartmouth to another scoring drought of six minutes, and the Red and Blue defense stifled their opponents to just 1-of-12 shooting from the field in the final 10 minutes of action to pull away with the win, 68-38.
