KEY MOMENTS
*After a back-and-forth opening 10 minutes, Penn pressed first on offense, as freshman
Jake Kohlbrenner found an opening on the right of the box. Kohlbrenner rocketed a shot that was saved by the Princeton goalie but deflected to the boot of
Sam Wancowicz, who finished the ball into the back of the net, giving the Quakers a 1-0 lead in the 13th minute.
*Princeton came right back on the attack, hitting a bar off the crossbar just seconds after Penn grabbed the lead.
*The Tigers evened things up in the 22nd minute, scoring a goal off a double assist including a header to the foot of Gaby Paniagua, who finished past Penn's
Scott Forbes.
*
Joe Swenson blasted Penn's best scoring chance of the remainder of the half in the 28th minute, bending a ball on a free kick just outside the box that was beautifully saved by Princeton's Jacob Schachner.
*Paniagua threatened late in the half to give Princeton the lead, but Forbes stayed true, earning two saves before the break ot keep the score even.
*Neither team featured any real offensive threat in the early moments of the second half. Penn escaped a few tense moments on defense, led by a charge from Princeton's Jeremy Colvin, the team's leading scorer.
*The clock hit zero's for the second time with neither team ahead, sending the game into overtime. The Tigers were the aggressors from the opening whistle, pushing pressure onto the Penn backline. Eventually, Bobby Hickson evaded a defender on the right side of the box before hammering home the golden goal winner, giving Princeton the win, 2-1.
