Women's Squash Defeats Drexel to Win Pennsylvania State Classic Title

PHILADELPHIA - PHILADELPHIA - Co-hosting the first ever Pennsylvania State Classic, the University of Pennsylvania women's squash team (2-0) defeated cross-street opponent, Drexel, in the final on Sunday with the final score of 7-2. The Quakers set up the meeting with a 9-0 win on Saturday over Franklin and Marshall. Over the two days, The Red and Blue won all but two matches. 

Six of the Quakers' wins ended in three games. Reeham Salah and Marie Stephan lost just eight and ten points respectively at the number one and number two slots. Salah won 11-4, 11-3, 11-1 while Stephan won 11-5, 11-3, 11-2. 

The Red and Blue's win that did not end in three games came from Lindsay Stanley. Stanley won the opening game before losing the second. The sophomore bounced back to win the next two games to win the match 3-1.

The only losses for the Quakers came at the five and seven slots. Hayley Scott and Cameron Munn fell in four games in their matches.

What's Next

The Quakers head on the road next weekend as they take on Virginia and Stanford. The Red and Blue will return home on December 3 to play Williams and St. Lawrence.
