PHILADELPHIA - The University of Pennsylvania women's squash team began their season Saturday as they took on the their home tournament, the inaugural Pennsylvania State Classic held at The Ringe Courts. Looking to build off a successful weekend at the Ivy Scrimmages a week ago, the Quakers made a statement as they shutout Franklin and Marshall 9-0.
While maybe even more impressive, The Red and Blue won 9-0 without dropping a single game. From the top of the ladder to the bottom, the Quakers came out with 3-0 victories. Reeham Salah won her match losing just one point. The most points a Franklin and Marshall player won in a given set was eight.
Making their debuts at Ringe were Hayley Scott, Cameron Munn, Julia Buchholz, Nicole Windreich, and Meg Frantz. Frantz played in an extra 10th match, but even so, all five players finished their matches winning in three games. Windreich won her match losing just four points with the help of two, 11-1 games.
Coming up, the Quakers take on fellow 33rd street opponent, Drexel, as they play in and the first ever Pennsylvania State Classic final.
