PHILADELPHIA - Behind a total team effort the University of Pennsylvania women's volleyball team (9-9, 4-5 Ivy) swept Brown 3-0 (25-20, 25-21, 25-23) Friday night at The Palestra. Not a single Quaker had over 10 kills or 10 digs, but everybody got involved to push the team to victory in what were three very tight sets. With the win, the Quakers improve to 4-5 in Ivy League play and also complete the season sweep against the Bears for the first time since 2012.
Katie Schumacher-Cawley also remains undefeated against Brown in Ivy League play as the first year head coach earned her first conference win against Brown back in September. Penn resumes play on Saturday at 5 p.m. as the Yale Bulldogs come to visit.

How it Happened
For the first time since 2012 the Quakers earned the season sweep against Brown as they defeated the Bears 3-0 on Friday night. It was also the 50th win for the Red and Blue in the series' history and the 11th time that Penn has swept Brown. While the score looked one-sided, the win certainly didn't come easy for Penn. Senior
Hayley Molnar and junior
Brooke Behrbaum got the Quakers on the board with an early 2-0 lead, but a 5-0 run from the Bears and the Red and Blue found themselves down 15-13 halfway through the set. A kill by senior
Kendall Covington tied things up at 17 and an error put them up by one. From there on out, the Quakers didn't look back. An ace from senior
Sydney Morton that tipped off the net capped off four straight points for the Red and Blue to close out the first set 25-20.
Like the first set, Penn found themselves down in second as Brown took an early 9-5 lead capitalizing on three errors from the Quakers. Two kills by Molnar and the Red and Blue were back up 15-11. The senior put her team up 24-18, but Brown didn't go away without a fight as they rallied off three straight points to make the score 24-21. Finally a kill from Behrbaum closed out the second set 25-21 to give the Red and Blue a comfortable 2-0 lead going into the break.
The third and final set saw seven lead changes. The Quakers were down 17-16 before a kill by sophomore libero
Caroline Furrer put them up 18-17. Penn didn't cease the lead again. Behrbaum hit her sixth kill of the night to put the Red and Blue up 24-21 and then finally after surrendering back to back points, Jones hit the game winning kill off of an assist by Morton to close out the set 25-23 and the match 3-0.
What's Next
