PHILADELPHIA--Junior Courtney Lubbe had a monster game with five goals and three assists to lead the Quaker women's lacrosseto victory over No. 9 North Carolina. The No. 6 Pennremains undefeated at 3-0 while the Tar Heels suffered their second consecutive loss and fell to 3-2.

Lubbe was the star of the night with a hand in eight ofPenn's 11 goals. The first half saw Lubbe and senior Becca Edwards connect and each score with the other's assistance. Lubbe assisted another for Edwards in the second half and went on the net three of her own. All told, Lubbe came away with five goals and three assists. Also impressive wasLubbe took just seven shots in the game, with only one wide and one saved.

In the first half, Penn played one down while Kaitlyn Lombardo served three minutes on a yellow card. Undeterred, Emma Spiro tallied a goal, but seconds before time expired on the penalty, UNC's Jenn Russell scored her team's only goal of the half.

Ten minutes into the second half, Sarah Kuonen put UNC's second goal past junior goalkeeper Emily Szelest, but it was the last the Tar Heels would get. Szelest made six saves on the night and secured her third win of the season. Her superior play has allowed just eight goals in three games earning her a miniscule 2.67 goals-against average.

The Penn defense aided Szelest's effort with Kaileigh Wright and Hilary Renna each snagging three ground balls and Renna causing two turnovers.

The Quakers remain at home for their next contest, hosting Boston University on Wednesday, March 11 at 3 p.m. It will be the first time Penn has met the Terriers in the regular season. The Quakers defeated BU in the NCAA first round game in 2007 and in the 2008 NCAA quarterfinals.
