PRINCETON, N.J.--The Penn women's basketball team fell to Princeton 61-51 in the final game of the season, Tuesday night. The game set the Quakers season record at 12-15 while the Tigers improved to 13-15. The Princeton win moved the team into a tie with the Quakers for fourth place in the Ivy standings. Both teams finished 7-7 in the Ancient Eight.

The 12-15 season was a strong turnaround from last season's 5-22 finish. The team also climbed two spots from last year's sixth-place finish in the League.

Senior Monica Naltner started the Quakers off scoring the first seven points of the game. With 9:48 left in the first Penn had stretched its lead to eight points?the Red and Blue's largest of the night.

Princeton clamped down on defense and Penn scored its last field goal?a layup by senior Lauren Pears from Anca Popovici?at 3:01. The Tigers continued to shut out the Quakers in the second half and scored 14 points before senior Ashley Gray got the lid off the Penn with a layup at 14:!5.

Though Penn battled with big buckets from the likes of junior Kimberly Franklin and sophomore Carrie Biemer the team could only pull within six points of its League rival.

Princeton paid special attention to the Quakers' offensive threat and 1,000+ point scorer, Joey Rhoads. The Tiger defense kept her quiet in the first half, but could not contain her second half effort as she came alive for seven points in the final eight minutes.

Rhoads leaves the Quakers with 1,210 points in her career which makes her Penn's seventh all-time leading scorer.
