Women's Tennis Defeats Cornell, 6-1

Ithaca, N.Y. - The University of Pennyslvania women's tennis team defeated Cornell, 6-1, on Friday afternoon.

The Quakers opened the match by taking the doubles point. The team of Michelle Mitchell and Yulia Rivelis won at No. 2 doubles and Caroline Stanislawski and Kate Williams clinced the point for Penn with a win in the third doubles spot.

Penn then took five of the six singles matches for the victory. Rivelis won in the No. 1 position while Julia Koulbitskaya earned a win at No. 2. Shelah Chao took the match in the fourth slot and Stanislawski earned her second point of the match with a win at No. 5. Williams also earned her second point of the match, taking the No. 6 singles position.

The Quakers are next in action on Saturday, April 23 when they wrap up Ivy League play by hosting Columbia in the Levy Tennis Pavilion at 6 p.m.
