Biography

2003-04  Competed in four singles matches this season, all coming at the Cissie Leary Memorial Invitational ? Pirsu won first three matches, including a straight-set victory over Ohio State?s Jackie Leskovar, to advance to the semifinals as the top seed before falling to eventual back-to-back champion No. 23 Julie Smekodub of Tulane ? Pirsu finishes her career at Penn with 54 singles victories and 26 doubles wins, going 1-1 this season ?

2002-03  Earned All-America honors ... Named Ivy League Women?s Tennis Player of the Year ... Named unanimous first-team All-Ivy League in singles and doubles ... Earned Academic All-Ivy League accolades ... Became the second Ivy League women?s tennis player to advance to the Round of 8 at the 2003 NCAA Singles Championships ... Defeated No. 10 Sara Walker of UCLA, No. 19 Maja Mlakar of Arizona, No. 20 Janet Bergman of Wake Forest ... Advanced to Finals of Eastern Regionals ... Advanced to Semifinals of Ninth Annual W&M Invitational ... Named Academic All-Ivy League.

Prior to Penn  At age 16 was ranked No. 24 in the junior world rankings, playing in Wimbledon, and both the French and US Opens ... Played Fed Cup for the Romanian National Team from 1996-98.
