Emery Maine Greenwood recently finished her second season as assistant coach to both the men's and women's squash teams at Penn.
On the women's side, Greenwood helped the Quakers to a 13-2 record and a second-place finish in both the Ivy League (6-1) and the CSA Howe Cup.
For the men, Penn put together an 9-8 record for a seventh place effort in the Potter Cup. In addition, Greenwood served a vital role in a pair of notable wins for the men's team. The Quakers earned their first win at Princeton since 1973, and defeated Yale for the first time since 2006.
In her second season she helped coach the men to their best start since 1985 as well as ending droughts against Yale and Cornell. Penn defeated the Bulldogs in the regular season for the first time since 1995 and took down Cornell in Ithaca for the first time since 2005.
Prior to entering the coaching ranks, Maine Greenwood was a two-time College Squash Association (CSA) All-America at Princeton during her collegiate days.
Although she played at Princeton, Maine Greenwood is no stranger to Penn Squash. In addition to her four years competing against the Red and Blue, she watched her younger brother, Jack, play four years of squash at Penn where he was a two-time team captain before graduating in 2015.
A two-time Howe Cup champion at Princeton, Maine Greenwood led the Tigers to national titles in 2008 and 2009 and won the deciding point in the 2008 victory. In 2009, Maine Greenwood was undefeated en route to a second national championship and All-Ivy honors.
In 2010, Maine Greenwood served as team captain and was a nominee for the Betty Richey Award which is presented each year by the College Squash Association to the women’s player who best exemplifies the ideas of college squash through her devotion to the game, strong sense of fairness, and excellence of play and leadership.
In 2006, Maine Greenwood gained international experience with her selection to the US World Junior Squash Team which competed in Herentals, Belgium. The youngest member of the team at 16, Maine Greenwood helped Team USA to a fourth place finish – the highest result by any American team at the World Juniors.
In addition to her efforts on the squash courts, Maine Greenwood spent two seasons on the Princeton women’s lacrosse team, competing in the NCAA Tournament.
Maine Greenwood graduated from Princeton in 2010 with a B.A. in politics and a concentration in International Relations and American Politics.
