Kevin Bonner is in his tenth year at Penn and third as the Senior Associate Athletic Director for Strategic Communications and Administration in 2025-26. He spent the previous four years as the as the Senior Associate Athletic Director for Governance and Administration and arrived at Penn as Associate Athletic Director for Administration and Strategic Communications in 2016.
In his role, Bonner is responsible for managing strategic communications for Penn Athletics, serving as the primary communications contact for the Office of the Director while also being responsible for special projects. He works closely with Penn's external areas, including communications, marketing, video and social media, and coordinates the Division's podcasts, digital marketing and relationship with NBC Sports Philadelphia. Bonner is also the administrative liaison to the Young Quakers Community Athletics program with the Netter Center.Â
He is currently the sport administrator for Penn's baseball, field hockey, men's and women's golf, men's and women's fencing, and sprint football programs after spending time with Penn's nationally-ranked men's and women's lacrosse programs, as well as men's and women's tennis and softball. Bonner has been the sport administrator for eight Ivy League regular season or tournament championships and five NCAA appearances. He has also chaired the search committees for the hiring of three Penn head coaches.Â
Bonner was an executive producer of The Carnival: 125 Years of the Penn Relays, a documentary celebrating the nation's oldest and largest track and field meet. He is also a member of the Penn Athletics Hall of Fame organizing committee and has coordinated the day-to-day activity of the Philadelphia Big 5, including the year-end banquet and awards ceremony. Â
Bonner arrived at Penn after seven years at La Salle University from 2009-16, most recently as the Associate Athletic Director. He was responsible for the publicity of the men's basketball program and also directed the Explorers' marketing and promotions, social media, video and community service efforts.
At La Salle, Bonner successfully pitched stories to national outlets such as the New York Times, ESPN.com, Sports Illustrated and NCAA Champion Magazine and coordinated all publicity for the men's basketball team's trip to the 2013 NCAA Sweet 16. He was also the media coordinator for the 2016 NCAA Men's Basketball East Regional held at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia.
Prior to arriving at La Salle, Bonner spent five years at Temple University from 2004-09, advancing to the role of Assistant Athletic Director/Media Relations and Publications. The CoSIDA University Division Rising Star in 2009, he began his career in athletic communications at Saint Joseph's University from 2002-04.
Bonner was an all-conference and academic all-district baseball player at Elizabethtown College, where he earned his bachelor's degree in computer science in 2002. He received a master's degree in sports administration from Temple in 2008.
