Powell on Hayes: Stephen had a fine junior season in 2004.  He performed well in all three seasons and lowered his personal record in the mile to 3:47.40 en route to qualifying for the NCAA Regional Championships. Hayes also ran on the 4xMile team at Penn Relays that narrowly missed the Penn All-Time record.  In 2004-2005, Stephen should be a force from September through May as he is ready to help his team challenge for conference titles in each season. He has the talent to compete with the top runners in the east and will have to score some much needed points at the Heps meets for Penn to have a shot at winning their third title in 5 years.  Already seventh on the list in the 1500 he looks to add his name to the record books a few more times in his final year as a Quaker. Hayes is a student in the College of Arts and Sciences.
