Jenna Stranzl has worked with the nutrition staff at Penn Athletics since March 2018.
In addition to her duties at Penn, Stranzl also continues in her position working as team dietitian with the NHL’s New York Islanders and their minor-league affiliate, the Bridgeport (Conn.) Sound Tigers. She has worked with the Islanders organization since 2014.
Stranzl has previously worked with a number of Philadelphia-based programs and franchises including the Philadelphia Eagles, Drexel University and Saint Joseph’s University. She also was a sports nutritionist with the PGA Tour for six years, did a stint at the IMG Academies, and has consulted with agencies as varied as mixed martial arts (MMA), baseball, horse-racing jockeys and athletes in the Wounded Warrior Project.
Stranzl attended Penn State, where she received a bachelor’s and then master’s degrees in Nutrition Science. Immediately following her graduation from Happy Valley, she served a Dietetic Internship at The College of Saint Elizabeth.
Stranzl is a Certified Sports Nutritionist from the International Society of Sports Nutrition (CISSN), a Registered Dietician from the commission on Dietetic Registration, and a veteran member of the Collegiate & Professional Sports Dietetic Association (CPSDA). She is also BOD POD Certified and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP)/ServSafe Food Safety Certified.
Born and raised in the Lehigh Valley, Stranzl has run several marathons and is an avid dog rescue victim. She currently lives in South Philadelphia, in the shadow of Citizens Bank Park.
