Emily Christiansen joined Penn in the summer of 2019 as Assistant Men's Golf Coach after spending a year at her alma mater, the University of Maryland, as the Assistant Women’s Golf Coach.
Prior to coaching at Maryland, she competed all over the United States on the LPGA’s Symetra Tour for four years.  As a professional, the former Emily Gimpel earned a top 10 finish in the Pennsylvania Women’s Open in 2017, and had numerous other top 10 finishes on the Eggland’s Best National Women’s Golf Association Tour. She advanced through Stage 1 of the LPGA’s Qualifying School in 2014, 2015 and 2017 and through to Stage 3 in 2015.
During her time as a student-athlete at Maryland, she helped the team earn a bid to the NCAA Regional Championship in 2012, served as team captain, and holds a top-5 all-time scoring average. Additionally, she was an Academic All-American and All-ACC Scholar Athlete at Maryland where she received her bachelor’s of science degree in Kinesiology in 2014.
She also works as the Executive Assistant to the Director of Athletics and Recreation at Penn and is pursuing a master's in organizational dynamics.Â
