  • Title
    Volunteer Assistant (Middle Distance, Distance)

Chris Hatler enters his second season a volunteer assistant coach for his alma mater, working under Director Steve Dolan with distance and middle-distance.

Before arriving back to Philadelphia, Hatler spent most of 3018 in Washington DC with the District Track Club, where he trained post-collegiately alongside Olympic gold medalist Matthew Centrowitz, Jr.  He also served as an assistant coach at the Sidwell Friends School, where under his tutelage, the tram earned a Mid-Atlantic Athletic Conference title in Cross Country.

Previously, Hatler was a standout student-athlete during his Penn career, taking part in numerous historic moments for the men’s team.  He was a member of the winning 4x Mile Relay at the 2016 Penn Relays, finished second team All-Ivy at the 2016 Ivy League Heptagonal Cross-Country Championship to help bring home the team’s first men’s team title since 1973, and won the 2017 Indoor Heps Mile.  He also served as men’s track & field captain during his senior season, during which he became the 482nd person to break the 4-minute mile barrier, clocking 3:59.21 and 3:39.08 for 1500meters.

Halter still trains post collegiately with hopes of competing for a spot at the Tokyo Olympics.  This summer (2019) Hatler has already run a personal best mile time of 3:58.52.
