Scott Wisniewski

Scott Wisniewski, who has extensive rowing experience in Philadelphia and the Ivy League, enters his third season as an assistant coach with the Penn lightweights in 2016-17.

In his second year with the Quakers, Penn posted their best back-to-back finishes at the IRA National Championships in a decade and reached the Grand Final for the fourth time since 1997 en route to a fourth-place showing. The lightweights also defended the Callow Cup from Navy to post back-to-back wins for the first time since the 1999-2000 seasons, and advanced to the IRA regatta for the third time in four seasons -- the program's best stretch since a three-year run from 2005-07.

The former Yale assistant came to Penn after spending the 2013-14 season as the head men's rowing coach at Villanova and the previous five years at the Vesper Boat Club.

Prior to Penn, Wisniewski was at the helm of two Team Club national champions, two medal-winning boats at the 2011 Pan-American Games and led two boats to gold medals at the 2011 Head of the Charles. He also coached at the U-23 World Championships in 2009, 2010 and 2011. During his tenure at Yale, the fours won gold at the 2008 IRA regatta.

As an athlete, Wisniewski was nationally competitive as an Undine Barge Club member from 2001-08. At the University of Pittsburgh he was a team captain and President of the Panther Rowing Club.
