PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania women's rowing team is back into racing action this weekend, competing at the Orlando (Fla.) Invitational. The two-day event runs Friday and Saturday on Lake Pickett and is being hosted by the University of Central Florida (UCF).
This weekend's event will once again give the 19th-ranked Quakers a good sense of where they stand nationally. In addition to Penn and 11th-ranked UCF, the field also includes No. 13 Alabama, No. 14 Duke, No. 15 University of Miami, No. 24 Oklahoma, Clemson, and SMU. Penn will row four boats at the event, three eights and a four.
"We are excited to return to Florida and race in the Orlando Invite," said Penn's head coach,
Bill Manning. "We enjoy competing with other top teams from across the country and challenging ourselves. We've been moving well in practice and picking up speed. Now we get to test ourselves and our ability to produce our best speed on race day."
