*Four Quakers—
Connor Chavez (2-for-4),
Davis Baker (2-for-5),

*Baker, Spaventa, and
Connor McCabe each drove in one run.
*
Gavin Collins and McCabe drew two walks each.
*
Will Tobin (2-2) was charged with the loss after allowing five runs (three earned) on four hits with four strikeouts in three innings. He gave up the go-ahead grand slam.
*
Marty Coyne was a workhorse out of the pen, giving up just two runs on five hits in 4.1 innings with five strikeouts. He did not surrender a walk.
How It Happened
Tobin gave up a one-out single, but set down the next two batters he faced to send the Penn bats up for the first time.
Both Cohen and Tobin threw scoreless second innings to bring the Yale hitters back up in the third, the score still 0-0.
Unfortunately for Tobin, the Bulldogs came to life in the third with five runs on three hits, one being a grand slam, as Yale took a 5-0 lead.
The Quakers got into the runs column in the bottom of the third inning when Chavez scored on an E2, making it a 5-1 game.
Coyne relieved Tobin entering the fourth and tossed two scoreless frames to give Penn another opportunity at the dish in the bottom of the fifth.
The score became 5-2 when Chavez doubled to deep right center field and then came across to score on Baker's single up the middle. Penn left the bases juiced when McCabe was retired on Ahearn's fielder's choice.
Coyne recorded two quick outs to begin the sixth, ending up retiring the Yale side 1-2-3.
Chavez got hit by a pitch in the sixth, getting over to second base on a wild pitch, but Baker flew out to end the threat.
Coyne got into a bit of a jam after allowing back-to-back base hits to lead off the seventh inning, both runs scoring on a SAC-fly and sacrifice bunt, Yale extending its lead to 7-2.
With nothing doing for the Penn offense in the bottom of the seventh, Coyne allowed two Bulldog baserunners to begin the eighth, replaced by
Connor Darling with one away. The freshman right-hander struck out the next two swinging.
Penn had a pair of knocks in the bottom of the eighth inning that were voided out by two subsequent outs to end the game to the ninth, Yale up by five.
Larsen was retired on batter's interference to begin the ninth, but an Atkinson double and hit by pitch to Imhoff gave Yale an additional scoring opportunity. With two outs, Sloan—pinch running for Atkinson—stole home and Imhoff was retired on a 2-6-5 rundown, the Bulldogs upping their lead to 8-2.
Penn got to work early in the bottom of the ninth with back-to-back no-out singles for Baker and Pokrovsky. Collins loaded the bases with one of his own while Spaventa brought home Baker on a fourth straight one-bagger with the score now 8-3. A sacrifice fly for McCabe scored Pokrovsky to cut the Bulldogs lead in half, now 8-4. Kelley got Ahearn to fly out behind the plate to the catcher and O'Brien grounded out to the pitcher to end the contest, Yale picking up the series victory.
