TOWSON, Md. – The University of Pennsylvania gymnastics team notched a 196.200 at the Towson Quad, outscoring their previous season high by 0.825.
The Quakers finished second in a field featuring meet-host Towson (196.400), West Virginia (196.125) and George Washington (195.800).
Skyelar Kerico tied her program record for all-around score at 39.325, excelling in all four apparatuses.
BEAM – Penn 49.225
The Quakers started off the night in the best way imaginable, scoring a season-high 49.225 on beam.
Mimi Fletcher and Kerico led the way, scoring a 9.925 each.
Jordan Barrow notched a career-high 9.825.
Manama Fofana followed that up with a 9.800.
Samantha Wu anchored with a score of 9.750 and
Alisha Werlen finished at 9.600.
FLOOR – Penn 48.925
After a season-low on the floor exercise at No. 23 North Carolina on Friday, Penn bounced back at Towson.
Marissa Lassiter led off at 9.775. Fofana replicated that mark.
Emma Davies finished with a score of 9.750. Werlen had a 9.600.
Zara Gazdak and Kerico ended the routine with scores of 9.825 and 9.800.
VAULT – Penn 48.775
As a true testament to the Quakers' performance, their "worst" apparatus of the night was on vault. Lassiter recorded the highest team score at 9.800. Werlen set a new personal-best at 9.775 which Fofana tied.
Olivia VanHorn finished right behind them at 9.725. Kerico notched a 9.700 and Barrow recorded a score of 9.675.
BARS – Penn 49.275
For the Red and Blue, they both started and finished off strong. Following Lassiter's 9.725, Penn rattled off five straight 9.825's or better.
Sophia Paris, Gazdak and Kerico all tied with a score of 9.875. For Gazdak, this set a new career-high and Paris tied a previous career-best from last season. In her second collegiate event on bars, Fletcher recorded a 9.825 which Barrow matched.
Rotation Notes
*Kerico tied her own school record for best all-around score at 39.325. She now claims five of the top six scores in Penn gymnastics history.
*Fletcher and Kerico's scores of 9.925 on the balance beam tied for the second-best event score in program history. The two split first-place honors at the meet with West Virginia's Karleigh DiCello.
*The Quakers recorded season-high scores on bars (49.275), beam (49.225) and overall (196.200). The bars score is the second highest in school history and the beam and overall scores are fourth best.
*Gazdak, Kerico and Paris had a three-way tie for second place on the bars (9.875), trailing only Towson's Isabella Minervini.
*Lassiter placed fifth on vault at 9.800.
