How It Happened
Tobin was tremendous to start the game, retiring the Big Green 1-2-3 in the first and then recording a pair of strikeouts in the second.
Penn's offense struck first in the top of the third when O'Brien led off the frame with a single up the middle, followed by a one-out walk to Collins. Pokrovsky singled to left center to bring around O'Brien, giving the Quakers a 1-0 edge.
Tobin set down nine straight Big Green hitters in the third, fourth, and fifth innings before allowing his first knock in the sixth. Puig ended up getting all the way over to third base, scoring on Casebonne's sacrifice bunt, the game tied 1-1.
The Quakers took a 2-1 lead in the seventh on Collins' RBI double down the right-field line as Spaventa scored from first base.
Tobin continued on in the seventh inning, allowing a leadoff walk, but picked off Jackson Hower 1-3-6 before punching Miller out looking to end it.
Penn created separation with three runs on three hits in the top of the eighth inning, capitalizing on Spaventa's RBI single, O'Brien's RBI double, and a sacrifice fly for Baker to go ahead, 5-1.
Shurtleff replaced Tobin in the eighth inning, striking out the side swinging. He then quickly retired the Big Green in the bottom of the ninth to protect a 5-1 victory.
