Gymnastics Finishes Regular Season with 195.625 Against West Virginia

PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania gymnastics team wrapped up its regular season, scoring a 195.625 against West Virginia.
 
Skyelar Kerico set a new program record on the vault at 9.925 as the Red and Blue recorded the season-highest team score this season.
 
VAULT – Penn 48.925
The Quakers started their night with an impressive showing on vault. Kerico notched a 9.925 to lead the Quakers and record a new Penn record. Jordan Barrow anchored with a score of 9.825. Manama Fofana finished at 9.775. Marissa Lassiter scored a 9.725. Alisha Werlen and Olivia VanHorn rounded out the group at 9.675 and 9.650.
 
BARS – Penn 48.700
Penn followed up with a 48.700 on bars. Barrow tied a career high at 9.825. Sophia Paris recorded her third 9.8 in four meets with a 9.800. Zara Gazdak posted a 9.750. Lassiter and Mimi Fletcher finished at 9.675 and 9.650.
 
BEAM – Penn 48.950
Three straight 9.8's highlighted the Quakers' beam performance. Kerico led the way with a score of 9.825. Fletcher and Werlen each recorded a 9.800. Barrow finished at 9.775. Fofana notched a 9.750 and Samantha Wu anchored with a score of 9.650.
 
FLOOR – Penn 49.050
The best rotation for Penn was on the floor where it had four gymnasts reach the 9.8 threshold. Kerico finished her night with a team-best 9.875. Fofana tied her career high at 9.850. Gazdak and Lassiter matched at 9.800. Fletcher and Jackie Tunney made their season debuts on the floor. Fletcher finished with a score of 9.725 and Tunney notched a 9.675.
 
Rotation Notes
*Kerico's 9.925 on vault slots her in the top spot on the Penn record books. She now holds the highest vault and all-around score in school history. Her effort was good enough for first place among all competitors.
 
*She also finished as runner-up on the floor exercise and balance beam, scoring a 9.825 in both events.
 
*Penn had eight total podium finishers. Barrow (9.825) and Paris (9.800) placed second and third on the bars. Fofana and Werlen tied at 9.800 for third place on beam. Fofana picked up another third-place finish on floor (9.850).
 
*The overall score of 195.625 was the second highest this season and seventh-best in school history.
 
Up Next
Penn will stay in Philadelphia for the Gymnastics East Conference (GEC) Championship next Saturday. The eight-team event will be hosted at The Palestra.
