#3 Women's Squash Prepares for #9 Columbia, #8 Cornell This Weekend

PHILADELPHIA—The third-ranked University of Pennsylvania women's squash team faces off in back-to-back Ivy League matches this weekend at the Penn Squash Center. The Quakers host No. 9 Columbia on Friday, before going to battle at home again on Saturday against No. 8 Cornell.

With Saturday's match originally being scheduled for Sunday in Ithaca, N.Y., the Red and Blue now have home-court advantage for their final match ahead of the 2025 CSA National Collegiate Individual Championships in New York City next weekend.

Quaker Notemeal
Penn is 8-1 entering the weekend, 1-0 in Ivy League play. Last weekend, the Quakers defeated No. 7 Yale (2-3) with strong showings from Sohaila Ismail (No. 1 in the CSA rankings) and Malak Khafagy (No. 4) in their matches. They both maintained undefeated individual records on the season with the victories. With back-to-back Ivy League matches this weekend, the Red and Blue hope to stay atop the conference standings. Looking ahead to the CSA Individual Championships next weekend, these matches look to serve as final tune-ups for the team.

Previewing the Lions
Columbia is 3-3 entering the weekend, all of their losses from other top 10 programs (No. 1 Harvard, No. 5 Stanford, 6 Virginia). With the loss to No. 1 Harvard this past weekend, Columbia sits 1-1 in Ivy League play entering the match. In the last five years, the Lions have split 3-3 in their matchups against the Quakers.

Previewing the Big Red
Cornell enters the weekend 4-2, all of their wins coming against other nationally-ranked programs (No. 11 Dartmouth, No. 12 Tufts, No. 14 Williams, No. 15 Amherst). With the loss to  No. 1 Harvard this past weekend, Cornell sits 1-1 in Ivy League play entering the weekend. In the last five years, the Big Red have fallen to the Quakers in four of their five meetings. Cornell travels to No. 4 Princeton on Friday ahead of Saturday's tilt.
