PISCATAWAY, N.J. – The No. 19 University of Pennsylvania gymnastics team took home second place at the Rutgers Quad Meet on Saturday afternoon, scoring a 194.325.
Zara Gazdak split the victory on the floor exercise with a career-best score of 9.875 and
Marissa Lassiter took home her first all-around title at 38.925.
With 194.325 points, the Red and Blue outscored Towson (193.950) and GEC foe West Chester (189.200) but were narrowly edged out by No. 16 Rutgers (194.450).
FLOOR – Penn 48.975
Penn started off the afternoon with their highest-scoring rotation of the day.
Alyssa Rosen (9.700) and
Marissa Lassiter (9.775) set the tone for Quakers before they rattled off three-straight 9.8's.
Skyelar Kerico started the stretch with a 9.825 then
Manama Fofana followed with a 9.800.
Zara Gazdak capped off the event with a score of 9.875, beating her previous best of 9.850 from the 2024 season.
VAULT – Penn 48.650
The Quakers continued their strong start with another impressive performance on the vault. After completing the first 1.5 on vault in Penn gymnastics history and scoring a 9.850 last week, Kerico scored another 9.850 to lead the Red and Blue.
Jordan Barrow finished in second place at 9.775 with
Isabel Song and Lassiter following suit with scores of 9.725 and 9.700 respectively. Fofana rounded out the event at 9.600.
BARS – Penn 48.425
Kerico led the way at 9.775 with
Sophia Paris and Gazdak finishing closely behind with scores of 9.700 each. Lassiter had a 9.650.
Carly Oniki and Barrow capped off the rotation with a score of 9.600.
BEAM – Penn 48.275
It was a blistering start for Penn on the balance beam with the first four Quakers scoring a 9.8 or better. Barrow, Oniki and Lassiter all set personal bests at 9.800. In her first collegiate meet,
Mimi Fletcher paced the pack with a 9.850.
Rotation Notes
