How It Happened
Penn and Dartmouth traded 1-2-3 first innings as Cole Zaffiro retired the Big Green side in order with two strikeouts.

Zaffiro struck out the first batter he faced to begin the second, but then gave up a solo home run to give Dartmouth a 1-0 lead.

Ryan Taylor led off the home half of the second inning with a double ripped down the right-field line and Nick Spaventa cashed in two runs on a mammoth homer over the center-field fence, putting the Quakers up 2-1.

The Big Green tallied back-to-back base hits to begin the third inning, bringing in one run on a one-out single and the other on a bases-loaded walk to re-take the lead at 3-2. Three more runs came across to score on two singles to cap a five-run frame.

Taylor began the third with his second double of the game, but quickly went back to the dugout after Spaventa was retired on strikes.

Zaffiro put together a 1-2-3 inning to get the Big Green out in the fourth, while the Quakers put together a charge the next half with back-to-back hits to lead off, followed by two walks to load the bases. Henseler was called out on strikes to leave three runners on heading to the fifth.

Dartmouth tacked on a seventh run in the fifth with an RBI single with two outs, taking a 7-2 lead.

Davis Baker led off the bottom of the fifth with a solo homer to right field, trimming the Big Green's lead to 7-3.

Facing off against John Cerwinski in the sixth inning, Dartmouth scored five runs on three hits to take a 12-3 lead.

Marty Coyne held the Big Green without a base hit over 3.1 shutout innings of relief, but the Quakers left six runners on base over the last four innings to allow Dartmouth to prevail with the runaway victory.
