Gymnastics Scores Big, Locks Up Lindsey Ferris Invitational Title

WASHINGTON – For the second time in three years, the University of Pennsylvania gymnastics team claimed first place at the Lindsey Ferris Invitational.
 
The Quakers used the third-best score in program history (195.375) to beat out host George Washington (195.025), Temple (194.125), Yale (193.325) and Cornell (192.850).
 
BEAM | Penn 48.900
Kiersten Belkoff (9.825) and Campbell Marr (9.800) led the meet off with 9.8s for the Quakers, followed closely by Skyelar Kerico and Samantha Wu, who both put forth scores of 9.775. Carly Oniki made her season debut with a score of 9.725 and Alisha Werlen also scored a 9.725.
 
FLOOR | Penn 49.300
The best rotation of the year so far, five Quakers scored a 9.8 or better in the event. Emma Davies wowed the crowd with a 9.925, a career-high on the exercise. The score was also tied for the second-best score in program history. Zara Gazdak, Sara Kenefick and Marissa Lassiter each contributed marks of 9.850 while Belkoff added a 9.825.
 
VAULT | Penn 48.675
Belkoff paced her teammates with a score of 9.800, as Sara Kenefick scored a 9.750. Kerico and Jordan Barrow each had a 9.725 to go third and fourth.
 
BARS | Penn 48.500
Kerico scored a 9.800 on uneven bars to close out the meet, while Sophia Paris notched a 9.775 and Sara Kenefick had a 9.725 to come in third.
 
Quaker Notemeal
*Penn's team score of 195.375 is tied for the third-highest score in program history. The Quakers last notched the mark against Towson on Feb. 13, 2022.
 
*Emma Davies is the fifth Quaker to score a 9.925 on floor. Connie Hsu is the most recent gymnast to register the score, back on March 19, 2022 at GEC Championships.
 
*Skyelar Kerico tied for first overall on bars, with Sophia Paris taking solo fourth. Sara Kenefick tied for sixth on the event.
 
*Emma Davies tied for first on floor with GW's Kendall Whitman. Three Quakers—Zara Gazdak, Kenefick and Marissa Lassiter—finished in a six-way tie for fifth.
 
*Kiersten Belkoff finished second on vault, while Kenefick tied for fourth. Kerico and Jordan Barrow tied for seventh overall.
 
*Belkoff's 9.825 on beam put her in a six-way tie for fourth place, while Campbell Marr tied for 10th with five others.
 
Up Next
The Quakers head to Morgantown, W.V. next Sunday, Jan. 21 to take on West Virginia in a 2 p.m. dual meet.
