Miller’s Double Caps Baseball's Wild, 10-9 Walk-Off Win Over Delaware

PHILADELPHIA – In a high-scoring affair that featured 10 runs in the first two innings and 18 in the first five, the University of Pennsylvania baseball team rallied from a three-run deficit for a 10-9 walk-off win over Delaware in the final non-conference game of the regular season.

QUAKER NOTEMEAL
Wyatt Henseler finished 2-for-4 with three runs scored, driving in his 54th run of the season, surpassing his previous season high set last season.

* Ben Miller finished 3-for-5, including the walk-off double, for his sixth 3-hit game of the year.

* The Quakers' 7-8-9 hitters (Asa Wilson, Ryan Taylor, Seth Werchan) finished a combined 4-for-12 with three runs scored and five RBI.

* Penn's final four relievers of the day (David Shoemaker, Edward Sarti, Eli Trop, Carson Ozmer) all threw a scoreless inning apiece, striking out six while allowing a single baserunner.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Down 1-0 in the bottom of the first, Penn took full advantage of a two-out Delaware error to put its first crooked number of the day on the board.

After Henseler reached on the error, Davis Baker doubled to right field, with Henseler scoring on another error on the play.

Miller followed with his first double of the day to put the Quakers up 2-1.

After Jarrett Pokrovsky walked, Wilson plated Miller with a single to right.

With two out in the top of the second, the Blue Hens grabbed the lead back, 5-3, on a grand slam. In the bottom of the inning, Werchan got things started with a double to right. After a walk to Cole Palis and a Jackson Appel fielder's choice, Henseler doubled to left, scoring Werchan. Appel came in to score on a wild pitch later in the inning to tie the game.

The 5-5 score held until the fourth when Delaware put three more on the board, adding another run in the fifth for a 9-5 lead, but the Quakers quickly erased that lead in the bottom of the inning, Henseler led off with a single, moving to second on a walk to Baker. After a pop out and a fly out, Wilson doubled to deep center, scoring Henseler and Baker.

Taylor stepped in next and launched a game-tying two run shot well beyond the wall in left-center.

With the four-headed monster of Shoemaker, Sarti, Trop, and Ozmer silencing the Blue Hen bats, it was Henseler who opened the Penn ninth reaching base for the third time on a hit by pitch. After a well-placed sacrifice bunt by Baker moved Henseler into scoring position, it was Miller who played hero, sending a one-hopper to the wall, scoring Henseler as the Quaker dugout spilled out onto the field.
