PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The University of Pennsylvania gymnastics team led the four-team field after the first two rotations but couldn't hold on to the lead to finish second at the 2023 Ivy Classic Sunday afternoon at the Pizzitola Sports Center.

The Quakers scored a 194.925 to finish second behind host and Ivy Classic champion Brown (195.200).

Continuing her strong form on the year, senior
McCaleigh Marr won the Ivy Classic title on the balance beam with a score 9.850.

VAULT | Penn 48.900
Perhaps its strongest showing of the day, the Quakers rattled off four scores of 9.800 on the vault, all in the last four spots as
Rose DeBarberie,
Marissa Lassiter,
Campbell Marr and
Kiersten Belkoff led the way.
Alisha Werlen scored a 9.700 while
Sara Kenefick totaled a 9.675.

McCaleigh Marr scored a 9.850 to lead the other two 9.8's from
Kristen Kuhn and
Carly Oniki.
Sara Kenefick had a 9.700,
Skyelar Kerico returned to the gym with a 9.425 while
Emma Davies totaled an 8.650.

McCaleigh Marr wowed the judges with her 9.850 after sticking the dismount on the balance beam, while
Alyssa Rosen totaled a 9.750 and 9.725's for both Kuhn and Werlen. Belkoff put up a 9.700 while
Campbell Marr had a 9.250.

Needing high scores to catch Brown late in the meet, Lassiter picked up Penn's lone 9.800 in the rotation while Oniki and Davies recorded scores of 9.750 while Rosen and
Sara Kenefick picked up scores of 9.700. Belkoff closed the day with a 9.670.

*This is the second consecutive season that Penn finished in second place in the competition.
*The Quakers' 194.925 is their highest in the Ivy Classic in program history.

McCaleigh Marr became an Ivy Classic champion on the balance beam with her 9.850. She becomes the first Quaker since Caroline Moore in 2019 to win an Ivy Classic title on beam.
*Marr also came dangerously close to winning the individual title on uneven bars as well, totaling a 9.850 and leading for the entirety of the meet when Yale's Raegan Walker tallied a 9.950 on the final rotation to take first.
