PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania sprint football team plays its final home game of the season Friday evening at Franklin Field, taking on Navy at 7 p.m. to decide the CSFL South representative of the championship game next weekend.

The Quakers (2-3, 1-1 CSFL South) are looking to bounce back from a Senior Night defeat to Chestnut Hill last weekend, while the Midshipmen (5-1, 2-0 CSFL South) defeated Cornell on the road, 58-6, and are looking to compete for their third consecutive CSFL title.

For A Piece of the Pie
Penn and Navy will square off for a spot in the CSFL Championship Game on Friday, the winner solidifying a CSFL South division title. The Quakers are in search of their first appearance in the title game since 2017 and the first in the
Jerry McConnell era as head coach. The victor will face CSFL North division champion Army next Sunday in West Point at 1 p.m.

The Navy Series
The Quakers trail the Midshipmen, 14-4, in the all-time series with their last win coming in 2017 on the road, 28-23. In that game, Marcus Jones and Jake Klaus led the offensive charge as Jones tallied seven receptions for 80 yards with two touchdowns and Klaus led the Red and Blue in the run game by rushing for 74 yards on 20 carries and a TD. That year, the Quakers ended the season 6-2 and narrowly fell to Army in the CSFL Championship Game, 10-0.

Learning from the Loss
The Quakers came up short to Chestnut Hill, 28-14, on Senior Night last Friday and fell to 2-3 on the year. The Red and Blue totaled 188 rushing yards with
Tom Rebstock having a career game, totaling 104 yards on 21 carries with a touchdown.
Ty Scherer added 15 carries for 69 yards and a score.
Cam Janock led the Penn defense with 10 total tackles, two sacks and a forced fumble.

Opponent Insight
Navy enters the contest with a record of 5-1, its only loss coming from Army, 10-3. The Midshipmen average 36 points per game while only giving up nine. They primarily run the ball on offense with four players rushing for over 200 yards and three or more touchdowns each on the season. However, the main factor in their success has been their stifling defense. Along with only allowing nine points per game, Navy is averaging three sacks, 5.8 TFLs, and 1.6 interceptions per game this season.

Team Leaders
Scherer has put together quite the season on the ground, rushing for 249 yards on 81 carries with two touchdowns, while Rebstock has a team-high three TDs this year.
Andy Falletta and
Kyle Zeitlian each have 12 catches while Falletta has 168 yards and a touchdown to pace the team. Defensively,
Jake Inserra leads the Quakers with 36 total tackles, adding three TFLs, while
Cam Janock has put together quite the impressive resume in 2023 with 35 tackles, seven TFLs and 4.5 sacks.
