Henseler's Record-Breaking Bomb Leads 10-4 Comeback Win For Baseball

PHILADELPHIA – Trailing 4-3 entering the bottom of the seventh, the University of Pennsylvania baseball team scored seven unanswered runs for a momentum-building 10-4 win heading into the Ivy League Playoff Series this weekend.

Wyatt Henseler hit a game-flipping three-run bomb to left to ignite the comeback, breaking the program's single-season home run record in the process.

How it Happened
The Bison worked back-to-back walks to start the game, but Seth Werchan turned a fine sliding catch into a double play to help keep Bucknell (21-24) off the board.

Penn (32-13) got on the board in the bottom of the second, Ben Miller led off with a double and moved to third on a single by Nate Polo. Craig Larsen then reached on a fielder's choice, plating Miller, then came all the way around to score on a long double to left center off the bat of Justin Carboni. Bucknell tied the game the following inning, then took a 3-2 lead in the top of the fourth. Penn went quietly in the fourth and the fifth, but in the sixth, back-to-back two-out doubles from Miller and Polo tied the game at three.

In the seventh, a walk, a wild pitch, a productive groundout, and a two-out infield single pushed the go-ahead run across for Bucknell, but as they've done all season, the Penn bats came to incredible life in the late innings.

With Carboni on second and Cole Palis on first, Henseler hit a no-doubt shot to left, slinging Penn back in front. Four batters later, following an Andrew Hernandez single, a Ben Miller hit by pitch, and a Carson Ozmer walk, Craig Larsen floated a Texas leaguer into right field, scoring pinch-runner Drew Rogers and Miller.

In the eighth, Palis blew the game open with a two-run shot to right-center. Danny Heintz, Penn's ninth pitcher of the game, closed out the victory with a 1-2-3 ninth.

* Penn scored at least 10 runs for the 16th time this season.
