WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The University of Pennsylvania men's golf team is in 11th place after the first round at the Golden Horseshoe Invitational. The two-day, 54-hole event is being hosted by William & Mary on the par-71 Golden Horseshoe Golf Club course.
The 15 teams in the field, including two 'B' teams, were scheduled to play two rounds on Monday but couldn't finish the second round before darkness descended. They will complete the second round early on Tuesday, then play the third and final round immediately afterward.

Penn's 'A' team shot 28-over-par 312 as a team in Monday's first round, while the Quakers' 'B' team carded 319. Georgetown has the team lead through one round at 3-over-par 287, six strokes ahead of second-place Fairleigh Dickinson (293) and seven ahead of the host Tribe and Towson (294).
Individually,
Mark Haghani had the best day among Penn golfers as he shot an even-par 71 in the first round. That had him tied for fifth in a field of 79 golfers. From the 'A' team, freshman
John Richardson shot 77 and is tied for 38th;
Harrison Ornstein's 79 had him tied for 47th; and
Carter Prince and
Anthony Basilio both shot 85 and are tied for 73rd.
The Quakers' 'B' team was led by
Jason Langer, whose 76 had him tied for 38th.
George Roessler tied his classmate Richardson with a first-round 77, while
Jimin Jung shot an 81 and both
Jason Fan and
Andy Fan carded 83.
Georgetown's William O'Neill holds the individual lead through one round after he shot a 5-under-par 66. That had him one stroke ahead of Villanova's Peter Weaver and three ahead of FDU's Jaime Julve.
