DURHAM, N.H. – The University of Pennsylvania gymnastics team put together another strong performance in a tri-meet with Temple and host New Hampshire on Sunday afternoon at Lundholm Gym.
The Quakers posted a team score of 194.850 to finish behind the host Wildcats (196.450) and the Owls (195.825). Penn's score was the third-highest in program history.
It was another day to remember for the Red and Blue as the team set a new program record with their event vault score of 48.900. Penn bested the previous mark of 48.775 which was set at both the 2020 Ivy Classic and the 2012 ECAC Championships.
BEAM | Penn 48.725
The Quakers had a nice start to the day on the beam with four student-athletes posting scores of 9.750 or better. Senior co-captain
Natalie Yang had another strong performance on the beam to lead the way for the Red and Blue thanks to recording a score of 9.850.
McCaleigh Marr was just behind Yang with a mark of 9.800 while both
Kiersten Belkoff and
Sara Kenefick had scores of 9.750. The final scorer in the event was
Campbell Marr (9.575).
FLOOR | Penn 48.750
The momentum carried over into the second rotation for Penn.
Sara Kenefick had the top score for the Quakers in the event at 9.850. Senior co-captain
Sydney Kraez had a score of 9.775 to end up just ahead of
Lauren Joost (9.750).
Rebekah Lashley (9.700) and
Isabel Song (9.675) also scored for Penn.
VAULT | Penn 48.900
The highlight of the afternoon came on the vault as the Quakers set a new program record with their event score. Three of the five Penn scorers posted came in at 9.800 or better, highlighted by
Rose DeBarberie at 9.825. Both
Sydney Kraez and
Kiersten Belkoff registered scores of 9.800 while
Isabel Song (9.750) and
Emma Davies (9.725) rounded out the scorers for Penn.
BARS | Penn 48.500
The Quakers ended the day on the bars for the second meet in a row. Twins Sara and
Ana Kenefick paced Penn with scores of 9.750 and 9.725, respectively.
Sydney Kraez finished her strong day with a score of 9.700 and she was followed by
Sophia Restaino (9.675) and
Connie Hsu (9.650).
