How It Happened
Dartmouth opened the scoring with a special team touchdown following Penn's opening possession. On fourth and seven from the Quakers 29, Robert Crockett broke through on the right edge and blocked
Albert Jang's punt. Crockett recovered the punt in the endzone and a Connor Davis PAT gave the guests a 7-0 lead.
It took the Red and Blue just two plays to tie the game at seven. On first and 15 from the Penn 20,
John Quinnelly kept the ball on an RPO and hit an open
Ryan Cragun in stride near midfield. Cragun raced down to the Dartmouth seven before being pushed out of bounds.
On the next play,
Isaiah Malcome took a handoff from Quinnelly and charged through an opening on the left side of the line to paydirt. Malcome dove into the endzone from the two-yard line for his first career rushing score.
Dartmouth took a three-point lead early in the second quarter. The Big Green had a 15-play, 58-yard drive capped by a 35-yard FG from Connor Davis. On the drive, Dartmouth converted two third downs and a fourth and two from Penn's 26.
Following a three and out from the Quakers, the Big Green answered with another scoring drive. Nick Howard put the exclamation point on a 10-play, 57-yard drive with a seven-yard TD run.
Once again, the Dartmouth defense forced a Penn three and out and their offense marched down the field to take a 17-point lead. Derek Kyler's TD pass from eight yards out RB Zack Bair capped the scoring in the opening half as the guests took a 24-7 advantage into the break.
Dartmouth first drive of the second half moved 82 yards into the redzone before a big play from senior DL
Prince Emili. On second and goal from the Penn 5, Emili punched the ball out of Howard's arms and
Mohammed Diakite dove on the loose ball in the endzone to give Penn the possession and some momentum.
The next Quaker drive stalled at midfield and after a punt the Big Green took over at their own 26.
Neither team was able to break through in the third quarter as Dartmouth held a 24-7 lead heading into the fourth.
Dartmouth capped the scoring in the game with a Howard one-yard TD run with 4:13 left in the game.
