PHILADELPHIA - The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) announced its 2020 All-Academic Teams and Scholar-Athletes on Monday, July 27. Both University of Pennsylvania tennis teams were honored as All-Academic teams, and 18 Quakers student-athletes—11 men, seven women—were honored as ITA All-Academic Scholar Athletes.
The Penn men's team was represented by
Max Cancilla,
Kaden Funk,
Edoardo Graziani,
Aditya Gupta,
Jonah Jurick,
Noah Makarome,
Harsh Parikh,
Dmitry Shatalin,
Zach Smith,
Kevin Zhu and
Jeff Zucker. The women's team was represented by
Marija Curnic,
Clarise Huang,
Jennifer Richards,
Jimena Rodriguez-Benito,
Sonia Tartakovsky,
Gibson Thomas and
Carolyn Xie.
The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any ITA program that has a cumulative team grade-point average of 3.20 or above (on a 4.00 scale) among the student-athletes who are listed on the institutional eligibility form. All varsity letter winners were factored into the cumulative team GPA for the current academic year.
In order to be named ITA Scholar-Athlete a player must have a grade-point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year and be listed on the institutional eligibility form.
