Women's Squash Faces #6 Columbia, #11 Cornell in Regular Season Finale

PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania's women's squash team (6-5, 2-3) returns to action for the final time in the regular season, hosting #6 Columbia (9-4, 4-1) for senior day on Friday at 5 p.m., before traveling to Ithaca, New York to face #11 Cornell (5-7, 1-3) on Sunday at 12 p.m.

Previewing Penn
Despite a 1-1 weekend, Penn women's squash has built plenty of positive momentum entering the final weekend of the regular season. Following a 9-0 thrashing of #13 Brown, the Quakers fought tooth and nail against #4 Yale, with the match coming down to the final three points in the final game. Now, the Quakers will look to add a signature win to its resume with a match against #6 Columbia, followed by a match against #11 Cornell.

Captain Julia Buchholz enters the weekend on fire, having won each of the last three matches she's played in. The junior is now 8-3 overall and will look to record her third consecutive 10-win season. Also heating up are sophomore Jamila Abou El Enin and freshman Ashley Manning, who both turned in 2-0 weekend sweeps.

While Amina Abou El Enin's winning streak was snapped at 10 matches against Yale, she still became the first freshman to record a 10-win season since Buchholz in 2017-18. Abou El Enin will look to rebound and match Buchholz's 12 wins from her freshman year.

Finally, four seniors will be honored during their last home match for Penn Squash. Captain Jessica Davis, Lindsay Stanley, Clare Kearns and Alexandra Sharpe join two seniors on the men's side for a celebration of terrific Penn careers.

The Lions have propelled themselves into a potential return to the Howe Cup, winning the last two matches against #9 Dartmouth and #10 Virginia to move into the #6 ranking, while also holding a win that looks better every day in a January 12 win against #4 Yale. At 9-4, the Lions have just two matches left against #7 Penn and #2 Princeton, as they look to secure a strong seed for the event. Leading the way for Columbia is junior Habiba Mohamed and freshman Erica McGillicuddy, who sit at the top of the very young Lions lineup.

With just three matches left, the Big Red will face off against #1 Harvard, #2 Princeton and #7 Penn. Sophomore Sivasangari Subramaniam is having one of the best seasons in the Ivy League, remaining undefeated through 10 matches this season at the No. 1 position in the lineup. One of Subramaniam's wins was a 3-0 win over #3 Trinity's Min Jie Teh, proving her ability to compete with the nation's best.
